Artist Statement
Film and Photography
Ever since I was a kid I loved documenting every moment I could. It became a hobby as I grew up and now it has become my career. As I got older I began to see the darkness in the world more than I could see light. Whenever I picked up a camera I saw the beauty within the lies and grief through my viewfinder. Combining deep emotion with photography and film is my passion. I want my audience to resonate with my work. As a director I want my audience to carry a piece of my film with them as they leave the theater. The purpose of my work is to address the topics we turn our eyes to as a society. I want to tell a story. I want these stories to encaptivate the cold truth of addiction, suicide, overdose, self-harm, sickness, and heartbreak. However, in the darkness, we must see light. Therefore within these films are love, health, loyalty, powerful messages, and lessons to be learned. Within everyone's happy endings, there is a dark truth and beautiful mystery. We all hide our problems, but I want to talk about them instead because in the end there's always someone out there that understands the pain. We all have a story to share, I hope you can learn something from mine.
